Musician Spotlight: Lindsay Dasenbrock,
“Your talent is God’s gift to you. What you do with it, is your gift back to God.”
"I owe everything I have been given to God. I fell away from church and God for several years. When it came time to sign my daughter up for First Communion, I went back to our parish for the first time in a long time. I was honestly somewhat disengaged in the Mass until the cantor began to sing a song from my childhood. It was a hymn we had always sung in grade school. That struck me. I started to cry right there in the middle of Mass. Afterward, I approached one of my friends who is head of #ReligiousEducation and told her that I was interested in #cantoring. Little did I know that it was the same week that the current music director had also resigned. Our parish no longer had a music director. If that’s not God working, I don’t know what it is. It was fate. Years of not going to Mass and I picked THAT weekend to go! Gives me chills...I needed God, and He needed me for his music...
#isingbecause I was a super shy child growing up and had a challenging time making friends because of that. So my parents signed me up for our #youthchoir, and it just grew from there. I was blessed with amazing opportunities through #music, have met such talented people and made lasting friendships along the way. One of which was singing with the papal choir for the Pope at the Dome when he visited St. Louis...that was the most astounding Mass I was ever blessed be to a part of! Words touch the mind, music touches the soul."
