Musician Spotlight: Abbie Kohler, Cincinnati, OH
"I love to sing. In the car. Country mostly – especially in the summer. But really I love to sing all the time, and #singing in worship has long been a favorite way to #pray. I sang in our #Catholic school #childrenschoir and noticed that I liked Mass more when I was able to participate through choir.

So, later I joined the junior high church choir...then the senior high church choir. This is how I learned that engaging more than one of my senses helped me focus during Mass. It also helped me to be intentional about the words I was singing and think about how God hears me.
#isingbecause singing helps me enter into a conversation with God. It has helped Mass to feel like it was about a relationship more than simply fulfilling an obligation. I’m not a phenomenal soloist, but God doesn’t need my singing to be perfect.

I have a deep desire to worship through song. It feels so natural to me. This is a way that I can do something I love to do. It brings me joy and the desire to Praise Him in itself is a gift! That’s why I sing."
Abbie works with Net Ministries and is active in the Young Adult Catholic Community in Cincinnati, OH.
