"Playing music elevates my faith by the ease with which I give it up to God."

Writer: The Cantor CoachThe Cantor Coach

Musician Spotlight: Julia Hoyda, Cincinnati OH

"I’ve played cello and trombone for 14 and 13 years, respectively. Shortly after picking them both up I was playing for weddings, Masses and other #church events. Playing music elevates my faith by the ease with which I give it up to God. I think it’s sometimes easy to take personal credit for things that take hard work, like our jobs or the cleanliness of our houses. But with something like #music...it requires some degree of talent, that can only come from God. I didn't really study music a lot. Those things are direct gifts from God, and so #isingbecause and #iplaymusic to return those gifts to Him in the simplest and best way that I can."

Julia lives in the Cincinnati, OH area and has been an active member in Church Choir and the Cincinnati Catholic Young Adult community.
