Musician Spotlight: Ethan Avina
"Not everyone has musical talents. And not everyone has a passion for music. God has given me both of these things.
#isingbecause I want to glorify God and thank Him for the graces in my life. I converted to the Catholic faith in 2012. The first time I experienced the Catholic Mass was the Easter Vigil about six years prior. The Exultet, the chant, the polyphony, sacred art and architecture that I saw that night started my journey. After studying the great composers, I knew there had to be something special about this music if some of these men and women dedicated so much time and energy to composing #sacredmusic. The beauty and timelessness of the #catholicmass inspired me to start singing for the church. Singing #sacredmusic helps swirl the emotions and the intellect of my faith together; it connects me physically, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually to my #Catholic faith."
Ethan started singing half way through his college career while working on his degree in music performance (low brass). Since college, he has been a member of many choirs in their bass sections and has worked with a number of groups as conductor and chironomer. Ethan currently conducts two choirs in Northern Kentucky where he lives with his wife and son.
