"Everything has meaning and everything is connected."

Musician Spotlight: Nathalie Corbett, Springfield, IL

"I started singing at a very young age and it has always been something that I've enjoyed doing. In college, my friend recommended that I choose voice as a concentration because it would be where I could #makeadifference. I'm so glad that I followed his advice, because it's true. #Singing has allowed me to help others in their #prayer, in their joy, and in their pain.

I grew up going to Saint John Cantius #Catholic Church in Chicago, where I have learned everything that I know about sacred music. I know that when I first started singing with the choirs at Saint John Cantius, it really helped me gain a deeper knowledge in what was happening at Mass and in what I was singing. That's the beauty of #sacredmusic: everything is written to praise God, everything has meaning, and everything is connected.

#isingbecause music is my passion and I get to do it every day. Through music, I get to help and inspire others. If you've ever thought about being involved in parish ministry, don't be afraid. I love my job and I wouldn't trade it for anything."

Nathalie Corbett is the #MusicDirector for Saint Katharine Drexel Parish in Springfield, IL. She works for the Canons Regular of Saint John Cantius and has the opportunity to participate in the restoration of sacred music every time she sings or plays. Thank you Nathalie for sharing your story!
