"A beautiful reminder of our church's solidarity across countries and cultures."

Musician Spotlight: Ruth Kenney, South Korea

"My name is Ruth Kenney and I am currently living in South Korea as an English teacher. While here, I've joined my local #churchchoir where I have the opportunity to both praise the Lord and fail miserably at singing in Korean all at the same time!

It's a marvelous adventure and a beautiful reminder of our Church's solidarity across countries and cultures.

As with many people, my first exposure to singing was sitting in the pews at #church. I loved singing in church because everyone would join in, so I could #sing as loud as I wanted, and no one would think I was weird. As I grew older, I started to lose conviction in my #faith, but always continued attending Mass because I loved being a part of the church choir. After my mini “re-conversion” I am in love with my #catholic faith and the Church. I can clearly see how God used my love of music to keep me close to him at Mass during my years of doubt.

#isingbecause the joy that #beautifulmusic brings not only strengthens my own heart, but also the hearts of those who are experiencing the same doubts I faced, which is why, no matter where I am...I continue to sing at Church."
